Foodie

I love food.  No seriously, I LOVE food.

My mother finds herself frequently ASTOUNDED at the things I put in my mouth these days (minds out of the gutters, folks), as I was the PICKIEST eater ever as a child.

But now?  I’ll try anything.  Once.  And then we’ll see.

But seriously.  I LOVE FOOD.  I have zero culinary training or background except for my own personal love of cooking and self-titled Experimental Test Kitchen when I go out on a limb and try anything I haven’t done before.

Though if you wanted to put me through culinary school… I’m listening.

I travel a lot (or I try to) and my priority when I see new things and new places is to find the good eats.  Where do the locals eat?  WHY?

After trying LA, NYC, Vegas, and Chicago on for size this year, I decided to start documenting the food and wines and people and loves I found along the way.

You can track all of that on the Travel/Food (I KNOW, A HYBRID!) blog here, and stalk me on Twitter at @NomadicFoodie to follow my world travels (soon enough) and random nomadic and foodie discoveries.

How can YOU be a part of NomadicFoodie?

Tell me where you’re from and what I should eat there, and I just may show up. (got a couch for me?  I make a pretty great couch-surferthat’s a link to my CouchSurfing profile – let’s connect!)

This blog is one of my most favoritest things I’ve done yet, and I think that the love and passion behind it is pretty apparent so check it out!

Winona, MN!!! I'm not from there but went to college there and it's best known for great hometown restaurants. My #1 recommendation is Bubs (pronounced “Boobs”. no lie. they have t-shirts. ahem- I have one.) and getting the cellar mushroom appetizer. I actually just drove there last night specifically for those! Otherwise checking out Jefferson's or Betty Jo's. :)

And my couch is always available. :)

Here in North Carolina we are known for our pullednpork BBQ!! I live in Greenville NC which is less than 10 miles from Pete Jones BBQ in Ayden which is the BEST BBQ in the country– don't believe me?! Google it!!

My couch us always available– you may have to share it with a kitten though–

I live in Philly so I hope you know we are famous for Philly Cheese steaks! You could go the boring Pat's and Geno's route but honestly, real natives go for the deliciousness of Steve's, Jim's, Tony Luke's among others. We also have water ice “wooter” to natives. There is a great Italian Market in the south. And how could I not mention Chef Garces who beat Bobby Flay in Iron Chef America and who owns several restuarants here. You'll need reservations, but you won't be sorry!

As someone who grew up in Memphis, I beg to differ on this one! But I am
more than willing to test it out :)

Ok, I've been scared of the Philly Cheese Steaks ever since Rachel told me
they had to be ordered a certain way or they'd laugh at you!
But anyone who's faced and topped Bobby Flay (I LOVE HIM) is someone I want
to check out! Thanks for the input :)
