First, let’s just talk about how much I love the name of this shop. Wanderlust. Like the business I’m creating and the photography blog I’ve been working on. Yeah, yeah – I haven’t made a whole lot of fuss about it (yet!), but just wait. I will.
Meanwhile, this past weekend one of my college girlfriends, Melissa, came to visit. This is the third time we’ve been able to explore Portland together. We didn’t have any real set plans all weekend, but somehow we managed to do EVERYTHING. Ice cream, dive bars, wine bars, Grilled Cheese Grill, The Lion King 3D, Monday Night Football, art museum, paper store shopping, and best of all – vintage shopping!
We spent most of Saturday afternoon on NE Alberta, a lovely little street in northeast Portland that I’ve sadly spent a very limited amount of time in. There’s so many great restaurants and so much great food up there, but oh holy hell, the shopping. I always thought I hated shopping (ok, I don’t hate shopping but I hate trying on clothes) until I found cute little local boutiques and vintage shops like Frock Boutique (where I got some leg and arm warmers) and Billy Goat Vintage and fell completely in love. I’ve been considering cute little frames (even though I don’t need/wear glasses…. shhhhh), and found exactly the right pair at Billy Goat, at the checkout counter, on sale, for $12.00. SOLD.
Ok, since I’ve spent nearly 400 words telling you about how I’ve spent my last weekend and alluding to the fact that vintage shopping might eat through any potential savings between now and the end of the year, let’s let the photos do [most of] the talking for the rest of this post, shall we?
Wanderlust Shop | NE Alberta
The cutest little shop was Wanderlust Shop. It’s at 21st and NE Alberta (for now!), and it’s a converted 1969 Cardinal Deluxe trailer.
HOW COOL IS THAT?! Totally reminds me of Kaelah Bee and her little Honeybean Dream, which also – is totally amazing.
I picked up a cute little suitcase in a great paisley print and a little tin jewelry box, but most of all – I snapped some photos of the shop and can’t wait to get back.
I didn’t get a chance to chat with the owner (Vanessa) because she was in Montana, on a vintage-shopping, shop-stocking trip. Cue: JEALOUSIES. But I did chat with her friend Julia who was running the show in the meantime, and she was great. I mentioned that little “I’m a blogger” thing, and she invited me to take photos of the shop and leave business card. We bonded over the fact that my business/photoblog name is Wanderlust and this real, life shop was also Wanderlust.
Kindred spirits, eh?
Sigh. I just can’t wait to get back.

Adorable. This is the type of store I’d love to poke around on a Saturday afternoon. Now, I have the overwhelming want for it to be the weekend.
Lor
I want to spend ALL of my Saturdays this fall poking around vintage shops. Shopping date?
What an awesome store! Next time I’m in your neck of the woods, I’m going there! Reno has a great store called The Nest that reminds me of your great find!

Next time I’m in Reno, you can bet I’ll check that out! Shopping fam trip?
And yes – when are you coming to Portland?!
oh goodness this store is so cute. i seriously want those cameras and the “don’t make me laugh” sign. love it all. also, grilled cheese grill? YUM.
Aren’t those cameras amazing? I LOVE them. My shopping partner in crime that day (Melissa) took a Hipstamatic picture on her phone of those cameras. Which was perfectly ok, since we’re in Portland and if we don’t do one ironic/hipster thing per day, they kick us out.
It had to be done
Oh my gosh this place has such cute stuff! When I come visit, I’m dying to check it out in person!
When are you coming to visit?!
