This is my year to…let go.

You see, I’m somewhat of a control freak. I’m a firm believer that you create your realities, and I’ve spent the majority of my life working to create mine. I credit where I am today — in San Francisco, blissfully obsessed with my dream job, living in a studio overlooking Union Square — to my hard work making it happen. Opportunity is when luck and hard work intersect, right? So, in 2011, I’m working on focusing a little bit more on the luck. Hard work is not falling by the wayside, but if I can just let go, relax, trust in everything I’ve done thus far, I’m convinced more good things will come.

Sometimes, I get so caught up in trying to control the outcome of everything, I don’t sit and enjoy any of the ride. Time doesn’t stop, it doesn’t slow down, and this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.

Hello, 2011. I’m going to cherish every single moment of you.

Boy can I relate. I’m a total control freak and this year, I made the promise to myself NOT to make any promises and just live. Also, I love how you said “opportunity is when luck and hard work intersect, right?”… So, so true. [high fives]

Promises are the WORST! If you’re anything like me (which I think you might be), promises are nearly impossible to break without feeling immense guilt. Living sounds much better :)

I can totally relate on the whole notion of “letting go.” Sometimes it’s in the surrender that we find total freedom. Loving this post!

I am with you on this. I just posted earlier today that I need to get rid of the need to control everything this year. Amen!
