Best ideas? Just after I complete a run. I’m usually not aware of it but during the run my brain is thinking through things, whatever they may be and about 10 minutes later it’s the “lightbulb ” moment. I have epiphanies, great ideas, resolutions, new thoughts, new plans. It’s kind of fabulous. Too bad I don’t have a treadmill at work… I’d probably be twice as productive!

I have no idea when inspiration will strike me – so I’ve taken to putting any random thought I have down in the note section of my blackberry. Blog post ideas (I have a separate section for TMI Thursday post ideas), songs I remember I want to download, random quotes from people I know that make me laugh… they all go in there. It seems easiest since my phone is nearly always the closest thing to me!

My inspiration comes when I stop for 30 seconds once every few days and just breathe. It really works. You know what else? My best ideas usually come to me when I’m cleaning. Especially when I’m doing the dishes for some reason. I have to hand wash them, so it’s better to let my mind wander than pout that I don’t have a dishwasher.

I get a lot of inspiration when I'm in shower. I guess just closing my eyes and letting the water hit me allows for a lot of clear thinking. I always get my best ideas when driving in traffic and just can't take a note, or I'm in the middle of a line from hell at work, making lattes and what-not, and in my zone, and can't really pull away and take a note of what I'm thinking.

I need to have a better memory or something.

Usually when I have some unplanned solitary time. If I’m on an empty 20 minute bus ride, or like you, walking through unknown streets. I’m usually not one to choose to be solo – but each time I find myself in that situation, I find myself reflecting and coming up with new ideas

My inspiration usually hits me when I’m really working in high gear on a million things – usually in the morning. I just get slammed with an idea and there’s nothing I can do other than write it down or I won’t be able to stop thinking about it. I’ve started a notebook =)
