About halfway through this year, I knew it. I saw it happening. I even said:
“2009 will be a game-changer for me.”
And it has been.
I believe that my life shifted directions this year, or at the very least – started deliberately moving in one. I traveled a ton, completed CorePower Yoga’s Teacher Training program and decided to pick up and move across the country for awhile.
Miss anything along the way?
Here are my eight (hey, why not?) favorite posts from this past year, that give you a good idea of where I came from and where I’m headed now. Thanks for being a part of it, and Merry Christmas!
- The Almost 40-Day Sacrifice (February 28) – I gave up meat (with the exception of seafood) for Lent. I had no idea how much that would change my life and my eating habits in the long run, but it did.
- Nerdgasm (July 3) – I reflected on the 20-Something Bloggers Ultimate Meetup in Chicago, a crazy whirlwindy weekend of drinking, geekery, and falling in love with some of my favorite people. This was just weeks after my trip to Vegas and was the second of three blogger meetups I found myself flying across the country for this summer.
- My Girlfriends are Hot (July 7) – Well? They are. And this was the recap from my incredibly fun Nintendo Girlfriend’s Guide to Gaming party where everyone won free DSis and all my girlfriends from high school and college and blogs and roommates all got to meet and hang out with each other and I JUST LOVE when my worlds collide like that.
- Honor (July 24) – As part of Renee’s Virtual Bridal Shower, I shared the story of being my little sister’s Maid of Honor in her wedding this year, and how ‘honor’ truly described how I felt that day.
- Pick-up Line Fail (August 4) – I kind of feel like Sydney will appreciate this one, maybe file it under CATSS? HA. Basically, I got hit on while on a flight from LA to Minneapolis and while it could’ve sparked love at lift-off, well, it didn’t.
- The Cocktail Question (September 14) – I pretty much took the “What do you do?” question and threw it out the window. I know you want to, too.
- Chakra Tuning, Heart Openers, and Pushing Your Edge (October 30) – Don’t you remember the first time you had your chakras tuned? I do. And it wasn’t as froo-froo and fluffy as I thought it’d be.
- Wants, Needs, and Being Open to Something More (December 14) – I honestly thought it’d be sometime next year or later that I’d even entertain the idea of dating again. Thankfully for me, this guy had other ideas. And then I jumped in. And it’s been kind of ridiculously awesome ever since.
Did I miss anything? What was your favorite post of mine this year?
More importantly, what was your favorite post of yours this year?

I think the thing that I like best about this was that you decided that 2009 was going to be a game changer for you as much as you decided that you were going to be a game changer for you. And it's funny how much of a difference that can make!
I like the way you put that way better than how I did!
I think all your Yoga posts were my favorites. But my most favorite yoga post was Dancing Corpse.
I agree with kylaroma that the reason this year was so important for you was that you made a choice and went with it and made the commitment to yourself. You took control of your own happiness. We rarely do this. We go seeking out happiness and expect it to happen for us so easily. But we have to change our patterns of thinking and behavior and love ourselves fully first. You have SO done that! And you rock. And this is why your blog resonates with so many people. Like me!
Awww, Alex! I loved writing those yoga posts the most too, I think. Thatwas such an amazing experience and there were so many lessons! Thanks somuch for all your support and feedback then and now – I can't wait to spendsome time with you next week!
Yeah, I thought about digging around for an even 10, but who says you haveto have 10? Eight's a good number. And yeah, your posts lately have beenquite good. I especially like the Care Bears one.
Glad you made things happen in 2009! I'm looking forward to doing that in 2010!
