No Ordinary Video

Canadian superhunk, dachshund aficionado, and blogger extraordinaire, Ben from No Ordinary Rollercoaster invited his readers to ask him anything they wanted, which he’d answer by responding in a video blog (note that I refuse to say the word “vlog”).

Anything we wanted.

Anything.

Well, true to form, I went all wild and crazy and asked him about kinky Canadian sex, gypsy punk music, and if he was related to any of the Barenaked Ladies (what? They’re Canadian, right?).

Yeah, that’s not true, and wow – I’m really looking forward to the Google hits on this one.

Actually true to form, I instead geeked out and asked him about the social media scene and general vibe of the bustling Halifax metro.  Ben responds, I giggle each time I hear him say “aboot,” and we all learn the apparent Canuck pronunciation of my Southern Belle name.  (Note, here we say Donna-Ree.  In Canada, as we learn, they say… Donna-Ray.  All those E’s are tricky, I know.).

Thanks, Ben! I can’t wait to come visit Halifax and check out one a few all of those “most bars per capita” bars (never mind what the Newf says, I believe you and I’m so there).  Great video!

Ben is my hero. And I think you got it right- a definite Canadian superhunk. (Also, can we bring back the word 'hunk'? I'm enjoying it today.)

Ben, I think The Newf is right. It's St. John's with the most bars per capita, no?

I have never been called a hunk before in my life. This is a big day for me.

I thought you would have gotten used to the E's by now with all the Canadians in your life. Keep up the good work on the site. Sake soon.

O snap, Doni, good question. I'm jealous of 2 things:1. That you were the one to ask Ben a question which has an answer I can actually use for MY job.2. That your Ben video has Ben in a rad jacket and sweater.

Apparently I am way too Canadian, because I never noticed "aboot" – hahaha, and I loved Joel Plaskett playing in the background!

You forgot to mention that social media led you to a great group of people that love getting together to get shitfaced on martinis and talk loudly about grossly inappropriate things! That's the best part of social media in Halifax!

Okay now….I seriously 100% do not know what people are talking about when they say "aboot". If ANYTHING, we kind of sort of say "aboat".

Oh I love him.I was in Halifax for dinner last week, true story. I'll blog about that soonish.I would say it Donna-ray too, so it must be a Canadian thing, but I do NOT say "aboot", I think that's an east coast thing, they talk funny outside of Ontario.AND, that video is playing Joel Plaskett, who is my favourite singer from the east coast of Canada ever.
