Canadian superhunk, dachshund aficionado, and blogger extraordinaire, Ben from No Ordinary Rollercoaster invited his readers to ask him anything they wanted, which he’d answer by responding in a video blog (note that I refuse to say the word “vlog”).
Anything we wanted.
Anything.
Well, true to form, I went all wild and crazy and asked him about kinky Canadian sex, gypsy punk music, and if he was related to any of the Barenaked Ladies (what? They’re Canadian, right?).
Yeah, that’s not true, and wow – I’m really looking forward to the Google hits on this one.
Actually true to form, I instead geeked out and asked him about the social media scene and general vibe of the bustling Halifax metro. Ben responds, I giggle each time I hear him say “aboot,” and we all learn the apparent Canuck pronunciation of my Southern Belle name. (Note, here we say Donna-Ree. In Canada, as we learn, they say… Donna-Ray. All those E’s are tricky, I know.).
Thanks, Ben! I can’t wait to come visit Halifax and check out one a few all of those “most bars per capita” bars (never mind what the Newf says, I believe you and I’m so there). Great video!

It's really beautiful when we're not balls deep in winter.
Okay now….I seriously 100% do not know what people are talking about when they say “aboot”. If ANYTHING, we kind of sort of say “aboat”.
Oh I love him.
I was in Halifax for dinner last week, true story. I'll blog about that soonish.
I would say it Donna-ray too, so it must be a Canadian thing, but I do NOT say “aboot”, I think that's an east coast thing, they talk funny outside of Ontario.
AND, that video is playing Joel Plaskett, who is my favourite singer from the east coast of Canada ever.
