Snapshots

I have a whole journal buried somewhere of what I used to call my “snapshot” stories.

Sometimes they were true stories; sometimes they were daydreams of stories I wanted to be true. Either way, I flexed my anecdotal muscles a little back then and have a notebook tucked away somewhere of stories of crushes, big girl dreams, whirl-windy first kisses, and junior mint movie dates.

Anyway, lately I’ve been letting pictures lead a story. A picture’s worth a thousand words, right?

Either way, I think I love it this way.

Sooner or later I’m investing in a decent camera with the hopes of making my life a little prettier, not that it’s not already magnificent. I just want to finally capture it and show it the way I have been seeing it.

And my little Exilim just isn’t doing it justice.

So, on a very, very basic level, I’m starting to learn about things like shutter speed and aperture and focus.

And I’m flexing my anecdote-telling muscles once again in a bit of a different format than I’ve used before in the blogland.

Here’s hoping for a living, breathing scrapbook of my 20-something life right now.

Because Rebel or not? It’s freaking glorious.

This picture here? I (in all my pigtailed glory) am holding Rachel Mom‘s Nikon that she left me in charge of for awhlie during Chicago’s Gay Pride Parade on June 28, 2009. My Jersey Rachel captured this photo with her Canon Rebel X10. Right? Did I say that right?

The best time to upgrade cameras is when you feel you've outgrown the one you have. Sounds like you're ready, girl!

LOVE the new layout – That’s #1

#2, I am also in the market for a new camera and have been doing some research. I’m bribing Rachel with Bay Breezes to go with me to choose. :D

We have pricey but pretty idiot-proof cameras. I’d love to have one with a little more oomph and custom to it!

I always wanted a DSLR but I don’t know if I want to carry that huge thing around w/ me all the time. I mean, what will the girls think when I have that huge lens bulging out of my pants?

I’m getting a camera (Canon EOS Rebel T1i) for my birthday, so I can completely relate to your excitement about making it all a little prettier. :) Actually, if you’re interested in doing more video blogs in the future, the T1i had 720p HD video!
