My personal blog/Facebook bio has typically included some note about me being an “aspiring geek.” I say this because while my “normal” friends think I’m the geeky one – the blogger who flies to Vegas and Chicago to meet other bloggers, one of the few, the proud “tweeterers,” and the one who all but plans a burial service for her 4 year-old iBook (because seriously, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION WITHOUT MY LAPTOP?), I instead see myself at the beginning of the journey with a long way to go.
I want to learn more html than just <a href> and <em> and <blockquote> and stuff, and I’d really like to add CSS to my repertoire of nerdy know-how. I’d like to understand some of the back-end stuff a little better and improve my design skills.
So, they roll their eyes at my Twitpics and “fancy phone,” and I long to be MORE of a geek.
Well, apparently someone thinks I’m just geeky enough.
Cue Nintendo.
A few weeks ago, I was approached by a lovely lady from Brand About Town with an irresistible proposition. She basically told me, “We want to give you new Nintendo toys and games, throw you a party where you invite all your girlfriends and drink champagne and play, and sporadically send you MORE cool stuff to play with.”
Now, I was definitely a Nintendo girl throughout my childhood (Tetris, Paperboy, Super Mario Bros), into high school (I heart Mario Kart), and can work up a serious sweat (and fiery competition) playing Wii tennis.
Basically, I couldn’t resist. So – with the help of Nintendo and Brand About Town, yours truly will be hosting The Girlfriends Guide to Gaming next week on Monday, June 29 from 7p-10p.
So… more to come on that, but parties and champagne (!!!) and toys and games? YES, PLEASE.
