It’s 8:30 PM MDT, and I’ve just arrived in Denver. Steve, my transport, fearless host/tour guide, and oldest and dearest friend asks,
So? What do you want to do tonight?
I’m not sure which reacted first – my stomach or my brain – but remembering that day’s oh-so-well-balanced diet of a scone, some cheese and crackers, and a granola bar, plus the insane craving for guacamole I’d had all day, I replied,
I could eat.
With that, Steve suggested Tres Margaritas, a Mexican restaurant in his Broomfield neighborhood.
Guacamole? I’m in.
Luke waves hello
Tequila? Salivating.
So, we noshed on chips and salsa and guac, quickly put down dos margaritas apiece, and polished off half the giant portion-sized meals of burritos, tacos, and enchiladas. On the way back to his apartment, we stopped by Liquor Store Heaven (aka Total Beverage) for a bottle of scotch and a mix-and-match 6pk of mostly local-to-Colorado beers.
In a perfect food+booze-induced coma, we ended the night by hanging out with Luke and filling our brains with the intellectual stimulation that is Superbad.
My mini-vacation got off to the perfect start and set the tone for a much-needed time out, perspective refresher, and Epic Summer kick-off.
More to come.
