Of course I have to do a New Year’s Resolutions post.
In random order:
- Save money (I’m not just saying this; I have a specific, Excel-spreadsheeted and accountability partner all ready to rock out some financial goals like paying bills on time and no longer forgetting a couple altogether).
- Lose weight (I was tipped off to SparkPeople.com, which is apparantly like WeightWatchers.com, but free, so I’m going to give that a shot and see how those programs could help. My goal is 17 lbs by 4/30/09. I think I can manage that. Besides, my best friend AND my little sister are BOTH getting married this year, and you can bet I’m going to look smokin’ in those bridesmaid dresses).
- Be more crafty. Specifically, I plan to learn to knit and use a sewing machine. When I feel REALLY ambitious, I’d like to make cards.
- Bake more. I cook, but rarely bake. (I don’t like how structured and specific baking has to be; I’d rather throw things together and see what happens. This does not a cupcake make.
- Read more books. I finished the fourth in the Twilight Saga about an hour ago and feel a gaping hole in my life where those words on pages used to be in my hands. I’m going to avoid the temptation to splurge at Barnes and Noble and instead will be raiding the bookshelves of my well-read roomies.
- Use less plastic. Girl Friday listed some great suggestions here.
- Buy more locally.
- Deepen and strengthen my important relationships.
- Be good to people.
- Send more cards.
You know you’ll hear of my progress. What are your resolutions?

Did you read the post on Girl Friday about using less plastic? She has some really good ideas.

Screw baking. Play to your cooking strengths.
Don’t forget your local library! It’s free too! And now-a-days it’s so easy to request a book online! And they send an email when it arrives at your pick-up location! AND they send an email when it’s almost due to help you avoid late fees!
