I started selling random trash treasures online over these last few months. When it became apparent that we were moving, I started realizing that I didn’t need the giant four-poster bed, I didn’t need two dressers (one of which wasn’t in great shape anymore, I didn’t need a giant old hand-me-down couch with roomie Sish had a super nice (sofa sleeper!) one, and I didn’t need the complete box set of the Sopranos (sorry, I just don’t care). So, my friend Nole started raving about all of her successful sale stories on Craigslist, including purple bath mats.
Eww. I’d never buy those used but apparently, some lady collects purple things. Whatever.
So, I started listing stuff. I sold the couch, a dresser and the last three Soprano seasons. But NO ONE gave two shits about the first four seasons. Why not?
So, desperately needing cash wanting to get rid of them, it was suggested that I return them to Best Buy, which was really tempting as I reallyreallyreally want this: (so much for the extra cash…)
However, I (obviously) don’t have a receipt, and didn’t want them to think I was trying to rip them off or something… so I just left the CL listing up, hoping someone would bite.
Finally, I decided to list them on Amazon. One sold within 24 hours (thanks lady in Maryland! I’ll be shipping it tomorrow!). As with the rest of my everyday ramblings small victories, I decided to share my excitement on Twitter, then asking if anyone else wanted to buy the other three seasons. An immediate @reply, followed by a DM or two and those were SOLD.
Seriously?! Is Twitter like my Easy button? So, I finally just got rid of all 6.2 seasons of the Sopranos, thanks mostly to Twitter?! Nice.
Now, who needs a 4-poster bed frame?
PS though – on the note of Amazon.com – I realize I’m like the last person in the world to figure this out, but that was super super snazzy. I’m totally doing this again.

I have a constant queue of stuff to sell or give away. I call it my ‘eBay box’, but I sell stuff on craigslist and through specialized forums and to friends and everything else.
I’ve always got something for sale. Most of it goes pretty easily.
Oh man, I’d love to sell some of the junk I have lying around. My main problem is that I suck at actually getting my ass to the post office and send stuff out. x.x So I could never use sites like eBay or such, where the buyers rate the seller on speedy mailing and such.
